Prysmian Group got the contract of  the company 50Hertz Offshore GmbH – the branch of b50Hertz Transmission GmbH, operator of backbone networks in Germany, amounting approximately 730 million € (including services on connection to the grid, 250 million €) to develop, manufacture and install   electrical cable networks at sea wind power in the west Adlergrund, the Baltic Sea.

Project in the west Adlergrund includes design, supply and laying of high voltage submarine cable lines between the planned offshore wind power plants, around 40 km north-east of the island of Rügen in the substation Lubmin in North-East Germany (and thus the communication with the mainland mains) for about 90 km (underwater part) and 3 km (underground part).

3-wire extruded cables (including fiber optic cable systems) with high voltage alternating current (220 kV HVAC) will be produced in factories world-class Prysmian Group to produce a submarine cable Pikkala (Finland) and Arco Felice (Naples, Italy).

Laying submarine cables will be performed using the newly upgraded ship Cable Enterprise DP, specifically designed for work on offshore wind power. This is the best solution to help solve complex problems, installation and meet the needs of the growing markets of Northern Europe. Fabrication and installation of cable systems in the west Adlergrund start in 2015.

"This new, already the fourteenth bank draft only once again proves the reliability, which provides group and puts in the forefront of strategic importance not only for the Group in support of the implementation of such an important plans, but also for the industry of renewable wind energy, being a supplier of undersea cables and terrestrial '- said Marcello Del Brenna, CEO of Prysmian Powerlink.

Prysmian invests in growing sector from the beginning development of the industry with the aim of anticipating the needs of the rapidly developing market for renewable energy and, in particular, to supply submarine cables serving offshore wind farms.
These new projects confirm the leadership and commitment in support of renewable energy.

In Germany, in particular, in the country, which is one of the largest development of this sector, the group is already involved in connecting to the shore for projects BorWin2, Helwinl, HelWin2, Sylwinl, DolWin3 BorWin3 mega clusters and a wind farm in the North Sea.
